Ginger Lemon Sparkling Drink

A cooling, refreshing sweet lime drink made with mild spices such as cardamom, ginger and black salt. It is good for your digestion and easy to prepare in a few minutes.

Ingredients:

Green Lime: 1 fresh & juicy (or fresh lemon if lime not available)

Cardamom: 1 pod crushed

Ginger: piece de-skinned and smashed

Mint: 2 fresh leaves

Raw sugar: 7 ~ 8 teaspoons (or white sugar) (or more as required per taste)

Black salt:  teaspoon or less (or rock / sea salt if black salt not available)

Sparkling water: 2 cups (aerated water such as Pellegrino, etc)

Preparation:

1.     In a clean, dry mixer, grind 8 teaspoons of sugar to a fine powder. The powdered sugar helps to dissolve faster with the water.

2.     Take a tall glass and add about 1/2 cup of cool, fresh sparkling aerated water in it.

3.     Squeeze about 1~2 teaspoon of juice from the fresh lime. Use less if you want the taste to be less sour.

4.     Now add the powdered sugar, crushed cardamom, ginger, mint leaves into the water and stir vigorously with a spoon until all the sugar is dissolved.

5.     Split the solution into equal portions onto two glass cups.

6.     Now fill both the glass cups with additional aerated water.

7.     Then add a pinch of black salt to each cup. You will see the gases in the aerated water beginning to bubble and rise up vigorously. Stir the salt gently for a few seconds. The fresh lime drink is ready to enjoy.

Serving Suggestion:

Add some ice and enjoy the cool, refreshing lime drink after a meal or when you are thirsty. It is cooling to your body internally as the lime has heat reducing properties. Also is a great aid for digestion, and relieves any gas and acidity in your stomach.
